HomeMy WebLinkAboutScope of Work for Hospitality Overlay (2)Andre, The City desires to create a “Hospitality Area Overlay District” that would encompass properties on the west side of A1A, north and south of Central Blvd, from the Port in the North to the Canaveral River in the south. The purpose of the overlay is to allow for development and redevelopment of properties in a manner that will better serve visitors, create greater value for landowners, and create greater taxable property value for the City. The City has agreed to prepare a scope of work that either the City or a consortium of hotel and other property owners will use to solicit a request for proposal from a planning consultant to assist with creation of the overlay. In our conversation of yesterday, you volunteered to prepare a scope of work for us. I am accepting your offer. We have identified the following items to be addressed in the overlay: increased building height, removal of minimum acreage requirement for hotels, accommodation for mixed use, creation of a list of accessory uses for a hotel to include commercial parking (parking for a fee for those patronizing cruise ships), and basic standards to address architectural design and building location. This not intended to be an all inclusive list, but we want to keep the overlay as simple and straightforward as possible. Thank you for your assistance.
