Appearance Boards:
Consistent with the Community Visioning, the City of Cape Canaveral is
preparing an A1A Economic Opportunity Overlay District. The intent is
to create a strong sense of place, identity, and brand for the City’s
northern entrance area, while creating additional opportunities for
economic development, redevelopment, and overall job creation. The
Overlay addresses architectural design standards, increased building
heights, revised hotel requirements, a Town Center, Central Boulevard
improvements, landscaping, parking, signage, and allows for additional
uses. A copy of the draft language of the Overlay District and the
District boundary map is attached. This information is also posted to
the City website www.cityofcapecanaveral.org

The City and its consultants want input from the property owners in the
proposed Overlay District. Accordingly, City staff and consultants are
holding a meeting of all property owners in the Overlay District to
discuss the draft language. The meeting is scheduled for Thursday,
February 9, 2012 at 6pm in the Library Meeting Room at 201 Polk Avenue.
An Economic Development Open House for all residents will be held on
Tuesday, February 21, 2012. The Open House will run from 11am to 5pm in
the Library Meeting Room. At this time, the A1A Economic Opportunity
Overlay District as well as Community Redevelopment Agency and
Brownfields Redevelopment Program will be discussed. These items will
also be presented at the Council meeting that evening.
