HomeMy WebLinkAboutRE Special Exception (3)Good morning Jay. The simple answer is that is what the City zoning code requires. However, a more in-depth response is a special exception is a use not permitted by right (such as banks, offices, restaurants, etc.) in a particular zoning category, but only allowed after the appropriate public hearings are held to determine if the proposed use is compatible with surrounding properties and can meet the minimum standards/requirements of the City’s code. These standards are located in Sec. 110-39(c) of the City code and are also part of the staff report to be discussed tonight. Let me know if you have and further questions. Yes, the Board of Adjustment will consider Special Exception 2015-01 this Thursday at 6:00 pm at the Library. The Special Exception, if approved, would allow Cumberland Farms to construct a convenience store with gas sales just north of Dollar General. The agenda packet is on the City website; it contains all the particulars. If you go to the “Advisory Boards” icon on the home page and click on “Board of Adjustment” you should see the a link to the Agenda Packets.” If you have any questions once you have looked at the report, please give me a call and we can discuss. Would you be able to assure that Dave receives the email, please. Eastern Standard Time Subj: Special Exception Hello Dave, I understand there is a Board of Adjustment meeting this Thursday 2/26/15, and that the issue of "special exception" for the development along A1A by Cumberland Farms is to be considered. My wife and I are owners of a condominium in Cape Shores Condominium complex and are concerned with the potential development. What is the specific "special exception" that is actually to be considered? Thank you.
