HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 1963-33 0 () MICROFILMED 4-10-80 RESOLUTION NUMBER 33-63 A RESOLUTION ORDERING THE BALLOTS, AS SEIZED z BY THE CH1E1' OF POLICE OF CAPE CANAVERAL, FLORIDA, BE PUBLICLY BURNED. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Cape Canaveral, Florida, attempted to determine the opinion of the citizens by the taking of an unofficial straw vote as to the acceptance or rejection of the merger of the Cities of Cocoa Beach, Florida [j] and Cape Canaveral, Florida, and WHEREAS, The Mayor ordered the Chief of Police of Cape Aanaveral, Florida, to seize the ballots of said straw vote along with official records of the City of Cape Canaveral, which have heretofore been returned to the proper custodian, and WHEREAS, the majority of the registered freeholders of the City of Cape Canaveral have petitioned the City Council not to proceed further with the merger plans concerning the Cities of Cocoa Beach and Cape Canaveral, and , WHEREAS, the Chief of Police of the City of Cape Canaveral has retained the custody of these ballots until official action of this City Council. NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of . the City of Cape Canaveral, Florida: (1) That the Chief of Police and the City Clerk, be, and they are hereby ordered to take the ballots and contents from the boxex being retained by the Chief of Police and burn same in front of the City Hall of Cape Canaveral, Florida, or some other safe, convenient place. [1/ (2) That the Chief of Police, be, and he is hereby ordered to,see that no one molests, removes, copies or tampers with any of the contents of said straw vote ballots and he shall be in charge of the burning, which shall take place at the earliest opportunity. (3) That this resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage. PASSED AND APPROVED this 25th day of June, 1963 RES 43 -33 ,19
