HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 1963-24 p _ , 0: ___ ,„ 0 �S MICROFILMED 4-10-80 RESOLUTION NO ‘,1/ 1963 `-- WHEREAS, the city attorney in an opinion rendered 18 December 1962 found that the Attorney Generaits opinion of 15 February 1954 was that "council may adopt any and all ordinances necessary for the preserva- tion of the peace, health,, safety and general welfare of the town", and WHEREAS, the city attorney also rendered in opinion that the city could supporta fire department by-purchasing equipment to be used for fire fighting and rescue, and loan monies to an organized fire depart- ment if such equipments and monies were used for the benefit of the city and the residents thereof, and WHEREAS, there is a volunteer fire department formed in the city that has not been able to render fire protection to the citizens of the city because of a lack of fire fighting equipment and the necessary building in which to store such equipment, and a lack of a place where necessary training of fire fighters might be accomplished, and WHEREAS, the volunteer fire department has shown them- selves to be composed of dedicated sober minded citizens with a great sense of civic responsibility, capable of operating an organization vital to the needs; of the citizens of the city, and 'SEAS, the city is at this time unable to provide the fire fighting facilities, firehouse, personnel and equipment:•.necessary for the proper protection of the citizens of the city,, NCW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Cape Canaveral, Florida: (1) That the city will loan to the Cape Canaveral Volunteer Fire Department $900.00, on 1 May 1963. MICROFILMED.__.___ __ 4-10-80 Attached and made part of this resolution are Appendixes concerning the training plans of the Volunteer Fire Department, financial status. of the Volunteer Fire Department and planned dispersment of the monies from the loan. All equipment purchased by the city will remain city property and said equipment will be used by the Cape Canaveral Volunteer Fire Department in the execution on their duties. (2) Repayment of the loan, which shall bear a rate of interest of 1/10 of 1%, shall be at $25.00 per month and shall commence when the City Council passes a resolution requesting that repayment commence. Elementary fire fighting training from personnel of the Florida State Fire College. 2. Basic First Aid from the American Red Cross. Courses to be taken by all personnel: 1. Basic and Advanced Fire Fighting from the Florida State Fire College. 2.. Advanced Rescue and Advanced First Aid.
