RESOLUTION NO. 82-18
A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING THE POSITION OF THE CITY
OF CAPE CANAVERAL, FLORIDA REGARDING CAPITAL FUNDING
FOR PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION; AUTHORIZING THE CITY CLERK
TO SEND COPIES OF SUCH RESOLUTION. TO THE BREVARD
LEGISLATIVE DELEGATION AND THE FLORIDA LEAGUE OF CITIES;
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Cape Canaveral,
Florida believes that the most equitable method of taxation is
user charges; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Cape Canaveral,
Florida feels that House Bill 798 unfairly sets criteria which
provides for capital funding for public transportation; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Cape Canaveral,
Florida opposes House Bill 798 and any sales tax increase for mass
transportation;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Cape Canaveral, Florida, as follows :
SECTION 1. The City Council of the City of Cape Canaveral,
Florida hereby states that it opposes House Bill 798 regarding mass
transportation.
SECTION 2. The City Council of the City of Cape Canaveral,
Florida would recommend that any capital expenditures for public
transportation be funded in such a way that user fees would pay
for the operation of the system and retire any indebtedness incurred.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk is hereby authorized to send
copies of the Resolution to the Brevard Legislative Delegation and F
the Florida League of Cities.
SECTION 4. This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon its adoption.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Cape Canaveral,
Florida ,this, 16 day of March , 1982.
