HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 1980-40 MICROFILMED 1-18-83 • RESOLUTION NO. 80-40 A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A MILLAGE RATE FOR THE- LEVY OF AD VALOREM TAXES FOR 1980 ON ALL TAXABLE PROPERTY LOCATED WITHIN THE CITY OF CAPE CANAVERAL, FLORIDA PURSUANT TO RESOLUTION NO. 80-31 AND THE OCTOBER 7, 1980 REFERENDUM ELECTION; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. ' WHEREAS , on September 2, 1980 Resolution No. 80-31 was passed contingent upon the October 7, 1980 general election; and WHEREAS, on October 7, 1980, the population of the State of Florida amended the State Constitution increasing the homestead exemption on ad valorem taxes by municipalities; and. WHEREAS, Resolution No. 80-31 specified that in the event the above mentioned amendment passed, the rate would be that established by Resolution No. 80-31, Section 1(a) ; `and WHEREAS, public hearings were. held on October 7, 1980 and October 16, 1980. I NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City • of Cape .Canaveral, Florida, as follows: SECTION 1. The City of Cape Canaveral, Florida hereby establishes and imposes a millage rate of .961 mills for the retirement of indebtedness for Storm Drainage and .480 mills for the Recreation Complex as approved in referendum elections, to be levied upon the 1980 Tax Assessment Roll for an ad valorem tax on all taxable property located with the City of Cape Canaveral, Florida. This ad valorem tax levied hereby is to be used for the City's fiscal year beginning October 1, 1980 and ending September 30, 1981. SECTION 2. The City Clerk is hereby directed to provide a cer- J; tified copy of this Resolution to the Property Appraiser for Brevard County, Florida. SECTION 3. This Resolution shall become effective immeidately upon its adoption. ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Cape Canaveral, Florida this 16 day of October, 1980.
