Greetings,
I am writing you today in concern about the proposal from
Cumberland Farms. I am a Brevard Native who lived in Cape Canaveral for
many years. I have seen the changes of the area since I was younger and
am disgusted with the sprawl. Do the people of Cape Canaveral a favor:
Go to Google Earth and view the Satellite images. In my estimation, from
memory, almost 75% of the open/green/undeveloped land is GONE. From the
sat images Cape Canaveral looks like nothing but concrete and asphalt.
When the 'Leaders' of the Cities of Brevard call for more growth, I
cringe.
Growth has a FINITE LIMIT. Consider this: A simple experiment
using a well balance ecosystem contained in a fish tank. Some fish will
spawn and increase the 'load' on the 'system to handle oxygen
saturation, waste disposal etc.. The population will be kept in check by
natural forces. i.e. Adults eating the fry, plants dying off from
toxicity which results in lower oxygen levels and more die-off. When
enough fish die, the plants rebound and the population balances again.
When you destroy all the green space, 'life support' from
'outside' the 'tank' will be mandatory to survive. You will have 'grown'
to the limits of your confines and suffer a loss of 'natural resource'.
This kind of sprawl, not unlike Melbourne/Palm Bay etc., is the reason I
moved from Cape Canaveral to Titusville. It is unnatural.
Please do not push it to. Leave what natural space is left alone.
Mandate all new construction to already developed space that is now
'dead'.
