I want to respond to a statement made by Mr. Braga in his email from yesterday regarding a traffic study related to the proposed Cumberland Farms project. Mr. Braga states “I can only guess on traffic counts, additional trips, access and departure trips, and internal/external absorption and creation of traffic as there has not been a request by the City to have the traffic in this area studied for this development. That study could make recommendations for improvements of access and departure from this development that could save lives.” In an email I sent to Mr. Braga on September 12, 2014 (attached), I specifically state that a traffic study will be part of the Site Plan process and we would not receive one until that point. I also referred Mr. Braga to Sec. 86-5 of the City Code that spells out the specific information that will be required as part of the study. I want to reassure the City Council that a traffic study is required as part of the City’s approval process and that the issues Mr. Braga raises will be addressed. Please let me know if you have any questions.
