HomeMy WebLinkAboutProposed 14 pump gas stations a on the west side of A1A in Cape Canaveral (2)Please answer these questions, and this is addressed to the City Council, In your opinion, will the proposed 14 pump gas station have a negative impact on our environment, so far as the runoff and water retention area are concerned. To be a little more specific, do you feel that the water retention area will contain all of the petroleum byproducts from all of the increased traffic that will be entering and exiting the proposed gas station on either access/departure point and road? Is the spill over and potentially negative impacts on the environment worth the tax revenue? Is the river safe? Please see the email below that i sent over to SJWMD(St. Johns) regarding the proposed gas station. Concerned, Eric Braga 321-239-2911 ________________________________ Ed, There is a proposed gas station that is going to be situated only a few hundred feet from the river in Cape Canaveral, and it has the 200 unit residential condo complex residents very concerned about the runoff from the enormous amount of impervious surface that this 14 pump gas station is going to produce. All of the current water flows west towards the river in Cape Shores Condo complex and if you take away that green space and add that many pumps, the traffic is going to create one heck of a mess. That mess may not be visible to the avg person, but we all know the effects of petroleum on the environment. Can we do a little research and see if we have a valid concern? www.cityofcapecanaveral.org <http://www.cityofcapecanaveral.org> click on the public records on the right side of the page, accept the terms. This will take you to the Public records section, click on the public records folder, then click on Cumberland Farms. You will be able to see the site plans and get an idea of the impact of this development on the river. It will be the closest gas station to the water in the county that has been built in years and the city council's opinion is unknown on this matter. I have attached the site plan for convenience. I am a concerned citizen. Thanks and Happy Holidays. Eric J. Braga 321-239-2911 Florida has a very broad public records law.
