HomeMy WebLinkAboutJerry and Norm inquired about this Gas Station Cape CanaveralRick,
There are so many different ways to approach a story. Your article in
today's Florida Today got my blood pumping.

A developer is very close to having his development of a 14 pump gas
station go into the number 2 ranked crash-prone stretch of road in
Brevard County. How many+ turns a day(into/out of) will be added to
just that stretch alone with this development. There is no deceleration
lane and no light for this development. As I already knew this was a
bad area (my family lives in Cape Shores), you have given me the
firepower to continue the fight for public safety. Cape Shores Circle
exiting onto A1A will see useage increase by atleast 600%(best guess).
I have copied the Cape Canaveral City Council in this email. Betty; if
you could forward this to Mayor Randels (I can't find his email address)
I can only guess on traffic counts, additional trips, access and
departure trips, and internal/external absorption and creation of
traffic as there has not been a request by the City to have the traffic
in this area studied for this development. That study could make
recommendations for improvements of access and departure from this
development that could save lives.
A drivers "state of mind" is very important when making turns onto and
off of major road ways. If delays occur, this will increase the
likelihood that mistakes will be made and poor judgments executed. I
have said it before, and I am going to beat that drum atleast one more
time, "This development of a truck style gas station at this location
will create a traffic nightmare"
Please consider this when you are discussing the proposed development
with your Board members. I just want to live in a City that cares about
my safety. Is that Cape Canaveral?
