Executive Summary 1/19/2016
The Friendship Park project will build a pristine community resource at an attractive Banana
River location that will attract visitors and tourists.
The Friendship Park project will use two adjacent land plats, both rich with natural and historic
resources, into a tourist point of interest dose to Port Canaveral. This beautiful wooded area
,home to rich biodiversity, is slated for commercial real estate development. This project is a
viable alternative solution from a gas station by offering the city sustainable economic growth
with a business structure such as a restaurant that presents the _`: history, current
happenings and future of the Space Coast. A business that would instill harmony towards the
local residents and the natural surroundings. The park will not only bring tourists but offer
local residents a relaxing area where they can appreciate a natural surrounding complete with
migratory birds, osprey, scrub jays, exotic vultures and other wildlife. Social media resources
will further facilitate the word of mouth to make this a point of interest for cultural tourism. The
park design will be modelled as a cross between a quality St.Augustine attraction and the
Enchanted Forest in Titusville. It will feature a mock Indian village, a nature trail, a community
garden, kayak launches,a community museum, and a picnic area on the banks of the Banana
ptv-area. This park will showcase the beauty and rich resources of this area while protecting
specimen trees and demonstrate how economic growth can be both profitable and yet provide
sustainable growth. Integration of social media, crowdfunding and private investors will make
this a viable business model.
Funding for the project will start on a crowdfunding platform such as lndiegogo.A goal of
$5,000 has been set which will be used to commision a business plan/grant writer to assess
costs, research, write a proposal and promote to both public and private resources.

• The City of Cape Canaveral NEEDs to be reminded about OUR Vision
Statement We DO NOT want or need another GAS STATION
Cape Canaveral Vision Statement
We envision: A bike-able and walk-able Cape Canaveral that retains and enhances its residential feel,
characterized by low-rise buildings not more than 4 stories in height. This residential and business friendly
atmosphere is one of a live-able, attractive, safe, secure, and sustainable coastal community that embraces
the beach and riverside as the main amenities, and supports local culture and education.
We envision: AIA as a "complete street" with a native-landscaped and tree-lined median with traffic calming
elements and dark-sky street lighting. "Complete street" amenities include bicycle facilities, covered transit
stops, and safe pedestrian crossings that invite pedestrians and bicyclists to access the beach, river, local
neighborhoods and adjacent communities. Our improved "complete streets" will allow us to travel calmly to
intimate waterfront destinations and a walk-able downtown core. Multi-use paths lined with shade trees
should be wide enough for bikes and pedestrians and lighted so anyone can walk or bicycle safely anywhere in
town, day or night.
We envision: Welcoming community entrance features that create a sense of arrival and unique community
identity. The "downtown" and other areas will contain an architecturally rich and unique mix of uses, with
wide tree shaded sidewalks and umbrella covered café tables at restaurants and bistros where friends gather,
interact, and enjoy drinks and dinner.
We envision: A community that; removes or transforms blighted and unfinished buildings into attractive
structures, offers city-wide green spaces, provides a pet-friendly,park with ample shade, and actively recruits
and supports businesses that enhance economic viability and serve our residents and visitors.
We envision: Open shorelines and rivers accessible to the public including amenities that take advantage of
the water, such as limited and quaint water-view establishments and intimate public gathering and
entertainment places that may include pavilions, gazebos, or a performance stage.
ENVISION CAPE CANAVERAL "Our Community, Our Future"
Visioning Implementation Accomplishments •
In 2009 the residents of Cape Canaveral engaged in a community-based, citizen-driven process to create a
vision for the City's future. Over 200 citizens participated in six public workshops that resulted in a Vision
Statement and a Visioning Report for Cape Canaveral. The Cape Canaveral Vision Statement envisions a
vibrant community that meets the economic, recreational, social, and retail needs of its citizens. A Visioning
Report was also produced that listed recommendations to implement the Visioning. The recommendations
include increased code enforcement, revisions to the comprehensive plan and zoning code to allow for mixed-
use development and a town center, and a proactive approach to economic development, among others.
The primary goal of the City has been the implementation of the Visioning, its recommendations and its
Vision Statement. The City is proud to report the results of its efforts in making the Visioning a reality.
