HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 1979-11 t. ,fel MICROFILMED 4-11-80 RESOLUTION NO. 79-11 A RESOLUTION REPEALING RESOLUTION NO. 74-65, WHICH RESOLUTION APPOINTED MEMBERS TO THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CAPE CANAVERAL POLICE OFFICERS RETIREMENT TRUST FUND, PURSUANT TO CHAPTER 185, FLORIDA STATUTES; BY AUTHORIZING TRANSFER OF FUNDS FROM SAID POLICE OFFICERS RETIREMENT TRUST FUND TO THE CITY'S GENERAL FUND; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, pursuant to Chapter 185, Florida Statutes, the City of Cape Canaveral established a Police Officers Retirement Trust Fund, and further, by Resolution No. 74-65 appointed the necessary members to the Board of Trustees of the Police Officers Retirement Trust Fund; and WHEREAS, the City of Cape Canaveral no longer has a municipal police department, since the police services have been contracted for with the Brevard County Sheriff's Department; and WHEREAS, the City of Cape Canaveral by Ordinance No. 2-79 has repealed an ordinance providing for the imposition of an excise tax on casualty insurers for the purpose of funding the Municipal P)ficei®fficers Retirement Trust Fund; and WHEREAS, the City of Cape Canaveral no longer requires a Board of Trustees for the Municipal Police Officers Retirement Trust Fund; and WHEREAS, funds are still on deposit in the Police Officers Retirement Trust Fund; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT REsoLVED;', by the City Council of the City of Cape Canaveral, Florida, as follows: SECTION 1. Resolution, No. 74-65 is hereby repealed in its entirety. SECTION 2. The City Treasurer is hereby authorized to transfer all funds remaining in the Police Officers Retirement Trust Fund to the City's General Fund. SECTION 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption.
