BOX 326 TELEPHONE 305 783.1100 January 20, 1983 DIRECTORS REPORT The 7th Anniversary Celebration Tournaments held in December were successful. (See nclosed tournament reports The Cape Canaveral Volunteer Fire Department were here serving food to the participants and spectators and made a lot of friends and a little money, The Shuffleboard Club, which numbers 68 members at present, will be hosting a District Shuffleboard Tournament on February 3, 4 and 5th. They have been working diligently to get every. thing organized and to make sure that the equipment and courts are in A-1 condition. They are expecting 100-125 participants. The new benches, refered to in my November report, are here but noteyet assembled and in place. I expect this project to be completed before the end of the month. Jack Burns and Wally Eberwein, members of the Cape Canaveral Volunteer Fire Department, conducted a Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) class at the Recreation Complex in November at my request. Fourteen people were registered and most ex, pressed their satisifaction and appreciation. The Recreation Department acknowledged the instructors dedication and community spirit by correspondence. The Cape Canaveral Tennis Association is holding a fun day at the tennis courts on Saturday, January 22nd, The Recreation Department is sponsoring a St. Valentines Mixed Doubles tennis tournament on February 12 and 13th. The Cape Canaveral Mens Softball Association is having a Sunday double header league starting January 23rd. There are 6 teams participating. League games will last through February. Most of our winter special interest programs are now underway, .See enclosed program brochure) and have, in most cases, met with great success. Activity at the Complex has picked up noticeably since the holidays due no doubt to the influx of winter visitors and the cooler weather. Completion date for Cherie Downs Park (behing Capeview Elementary) is May 31, 1983. The county plans to have a de- dication ceremony soon after completion.
