FLORIDA 32920 TELEPHONE 305 783-1100 May 20, 1962 DIRECTOR'S REPORT The door replacement on the old racquetball courts h-ca, finally been completed. Although the replacement project was carefully scheduled to minimize the inconvenience to the racquetball players, one of the doors was improperly manufactured and had to be shipped back to Miami. One court was closed down for sereral weeks. All is well now and with proper preventative maintenance these doors should last7a long while. I attended the State Director ls Conference in St. Petersbero on May 5, 6 and 7 and feel that it was very worthwhile. There were seven sessions in all, most of which dealt with management techniques and the problem most departments are facing -- shrinking funds! City Council, at their April 6th meeting, approved all of the Recreation Board's recommendations, which were 1) Shuffleboard Club's request for free court time on Feb. 4, 5, and 6, 1983 to host their district tournament 2 ) Cape View School using tennis and racquetball courts for their mini courses in May, and 3) summer recreation program fees set. The Spring Fling racquetball tournament held in April was very successful. The tournament report is included in your packet. As evidenced on the agenda, it's budget time again. Come to the meeting prepared to discuss needs! The Cape View children have been here for the past two Friday afternoons enjoying the facilities and learning to play racquetball and tennis.
