HomeMy WebLinkAboutArchaeology at CFarms site crowdfunding solutions means just asking for 'time' not 'monies' PRRDear Bob, first off thanks for your previous reply. Yes, I have updated
my understanding of the Florida Sunshine laws and believe that I am in
compliance with it.
I want to take this opportunity to bring you up-to-date with my
efforts for the archaeological survey, Attached you will find two
documents which are important. One includes a letter supporting and
recommending this archaeological survey from the director of the Brevard
County Historical Commission. You no doubt got my previous email from
Mia when I requested she
send my last email out to city council. This email is a follow-up from
that.
The other file 'CF-Archaeology'.jpg' is a crowd-funding platform I am
researching that will enable us not to use public funds either from the
state nor from the city, as it would obtain non-tax deductible donations
from interested community members. There are two main reasons why I
favor this; one is because the present landowner objected to public
funds being used for this purpose and two because 'time is of the
essence' and we may not be able expect for the landowner to wait for a
grant to go through. So really all I am asking from the city with
regards to this archaeology project is to ask the landowner for some
time, before they go through the earth removal process on this property
I learned about the landowner's reason through a public record request
which I thanked the city for. But I have recent requests to David
Dickey, the city planner, that I am still waiting for. Next time you
talk to the city can you ask them about my recent public record requests
to be forwarded to the city public records? I already have three email
into them about it and feel this request is being stonewalled. It is
important I get this request, so I know how to best navigate my own
efforts.
As always I appreciate your efforts into seeing our city grow in
accordance to the city comprehensive plan.
Sincerely,
-RKO
Florida has a very broad public records law. As a result, any written
communication created or received by the City of Cape Canaveral
officials and employees will be made available to the public and/or
media upon request, unless otherwise exempt. Under Florida Law, email
addresses are public records. If you do not want your email address
released in response to a public-records request, do not send electronic
email to this entity. Instead, contact our office by phone or in writing
