HomeMy WebLinkAboutRe EOOD ExpansionHi, John, and thank you for being involved and sending me your letter.
Re the EOOD expansion, I have been out of town and have not reviewed the
proposed plan. I will look at it and intend to meet with the CM later
this week. I do not have an opinion formed, as of yet. David is a very
capable CM and he and I agree on many ideas but differ on those that
take us away from being a true seaside community or are simply not in
the best interest of the city.
The A1A corridor is mostly about business. But, again, that doesn't
mean that I must support every plan that is submitted. I do listen to
the residents and always give them my time when they call me.
I have gone on record as being adamantly opposed to the Cumberland
Farms project on several levels, including the simple reason of not
being the right location for a business of that type. I believe you are
also opposed.
John, I value your experience and wouldn't mind taking your pulse on
city issues. Call me anytime if you wish to talk. There is no guarantee
we will be in sync but I think we are closer than you might think.
Be well and have a great week.
Warmest regards,
John

Buzz, Betty, and John,
I have just reviewed the proposed EOOD overlay. (see attached) This is
worse gerrymandering then the Republican party of Florida is accused of
funding. Public Service is about serving the public not serving one
influential sociopath. Definition -- A sociopath is often well liked
because of their charm and high charisma, but they do not usually care
about other people.
In addition, I continue to see more and more delegation of power from
council to the city manager. Not only are you abdicating your
responsibility as elected “public servants”, but you are empowering
staff to give even more (then they are now) special treatment to favored
developers. Being in office is not about “feeling important’ or being
part of a special “club” that you must serve in order to be “popular”.
Public service is a sacred trust. Take it from someone who is retired
from public service, you will be glad you lived your oath of office, and
it is not too late to do better than you have so far.
No response needed.
