HomeMy WebLinkAboutCumberland Farms (3) Good afternoon Mr. Knorr. I did receive your voicemail this morning. My assistant, Ms. Patsy Huffman, has been in contact with Ms. Helen Sansone with your office regarding a possible community meeting on December 2nd at 6:00 pm related to the proposed Cumberland Farms project in Cape Canaveral. The meeting room at the City Library has been reserved should that date/time work for you and your client. With respect to a public notice regarding this meeting, my suggestion is that one be sent to households within 500 feet of the subject property at least two weeks prior to the meeting. You can get a list of property owners from the Brevard County Property Appraiser. Our contact there is Ms. Joanne Adams at (321)633-2060, ext. 56085. This project requires a Special Exception, which is a two-step process. The Planning & Zoning Board meeting is generally held on the fourth Wednesday of every month. In December, that will be the 24th. As this is Christmas Eve, the meeting will need to be rescheduled. I have not yet discussed this with our Chairman to determine how he would like to handle this matter. Once the Planning & Zoning Board considers the application, it will then proceed to the Board of Adjustment the following month for a final decision. The BOA meets the 2nd or 4th Thursday of every month. Please note that the project received Community Appearance Board approval on August 6, 2014. In general, this approval is to determine a project’s consistency with the surrounding natural and built environment. Section 22-42 (c) of the City Code spells out the criteria used by the CAB when it is considering an application. I have attached a copy of the staff report that was prepared for the August meeting. Please let me know if you have further questions. Dave Florida has a very broad public records law.
