Meeting called to order by Jo Nicholson.
Members Present: G. Murray, B. Morrison, J. Nicholson, S. Butler and J. Murphy
Members Absent: T. Meilleur and D. Pressley
Others Present: N. Hanson
August minutes were read and approved.
The Directors report reviewed and discussion on work done on racquetball courts.
Unfinished Business: None
New
Business: A request had been made from the American Cancer Society for 5 tennis
courts on Saturday, October 7, 1981 for the annual Sun Bank Tennis Classic.
S. Butler moved to let the ACS have 3 courts on that $aturday instead of 5.
Courts 3,4,and 5 were suggested. The motion was seconded by J. Murphy.
Passed unanimously.
The terms of board members S. Butler, G. Murray and D. Pressley are expiring..
D. Pressley did not want to be reappointed. Recommendation made by j. Murphy
for reappointment for S. Butler and G. Murray, seconded by J. Nicholson..
Passed unanimously.
Recommendation made by J. Murphy and seconded by S. Butler to appoint Nathan
Jones to the Recreation Board. Passed unanimously. There are still need
for two alternate members,
Members asked to give considerable thought to a six year capital improvements
budget and bring their thoughts and ideas to the next meeting.
Tennis punch cards had much discussion. Sitting in for discusssion on this
particular topic were Maggie Lima, Cindy McElwee and Lee Murphy. M. Lima
asked if her 3 month expired card could be extended due to circumstances which
made her unable to use it. Discussion followed. It was said that no real
financial break was given in the punch cards. N. Hanson brought it to our
attention that she was making a recommendation that the punch cards be extend-
ed to six months. Motion made by B. Morrison and seconded by J. Murphy to
send N. Hanson's recommendation to the next city council meeting. Passed
unanimously.
The Cape Canaveral Tennis Association has requested 3 courts for either Nov.
7th or 14th for their tournament. Motion made by B. Morrison and seconded
by J. Murphy to hold courts 3, 4, and 5 open for CCTA. Passed. unanimously.
S. Butler brought up a discussion on why non resident rates should apply to
taxpayers living outside the city.. A discussion followed -
The backboard was again brought up and it was requested that soneone look. into
the price of moving it to another location other than on the south: fence.
Motion was made by G. Murray to adjour, seconded by J. Murphy. Passed unanimously.
Our next meeting is October 26, 1981 at 5 PM at the Recreation Center,
