Subject: CUMBERLAND FARMS GAS STATION
City Manager's Office
When I retired to the community of Cape Shores, Cape Canaveral, 14 years
ago I believed I discovered the best of both worlds--gentle ocean
breezes and awesome sunsets, dolphins and manatees, and shorebirds
everywhere. Unfortunately ‘progress’ has altered that belief. Now we
struggle to save wildlife, the Indian River Lagoon, and irreplaceable
oak hammocks.
Currently in Cape Canaveral there is yet another attempt taking place to
achieve ‘progress‘ with complete disregard to residents and the
environment, the Cumberland Farms multiple pump gas station on A1A.
We have a responsibility to preserve our community as outlined in the
2009 Cape Canaveral Vision Statement and to maintain and protect the
quality of life we enjoy.
I urge you to stand with the residents and voters in our community and
support the notion that while commercial development is generally
economically sound, Cape Canaveral does not need another gas station!
Please, do not abandon the CAPE CANAVERAL VISION STATEMENT!
