HomeMy WebLinkAboutpetition for PRR subfolder Cumberland Farms from the Concerned Citizens of Cape CanaveralMayor Randels and Todd Morley,
Please see attached petition for PRR subfolder Cumberland Farms from the
Concerned Citizens of Cape Canaveral....
I received a bit of unsettling news last week. It was about the golf
and gator putt putt and a petition. I was "told" that they were
offering a discount to anyone who would sign their petition. The
petition is "for" the building of a gas station. While petitions are
not enforceable unless they follow certain protocols in the code, they
still carry the weight of public opinion. I encourage Bob and anyone
else who wants to express their right to guage public sentiment. Lets
do it fairly.
I always trust and verify, so I went in Saturday afternoon and spoke
with the attendant. Just in case, I went with a witness. The petition
was in plain sight. I was acting as a potential customer. I asked
about pricing and they gave it to me. I also asked if I could get a
discount for signing the petition and playing golf, the attendant said
they would certainly do something like that for me. This is after a few
concerned citizens approached with the information that this might be
happening. I do not have audio of the questions being asked, only the
witness. I am breaking down the submitted petition by Donna Noland @
Baugher & Company, Inc in an effort to contact some of the individuals
on the list in an attempt to verify or prove untrue this information.
The age of the internet has made this process a little less painful, but
since most of the names will be out of area and non-residents I am
running into the usual issues. If I am able to gather information that
is helpful, I will share.
I am certain that Bob wouldn't do something like this. But it is now a
genuine concern and should be addressed.
Feel free to do the same to our petition, infact some people either left
their names. addresses or phone numbers. A good deal of voters are
going to wait until the matter is presented publicly, but if you feel
inclined to gauge a little hometown sentiment call some of the numbers
on the petitions.
Thanks,
Eric Braga
