MEETING MINUTES
JULY 22, 2014
A Meeting of the Culture and Leisure Services Board was held on July 22, 2014, at the Cape
Canaveral Public Library, 201 Polk Avenue, Cape Canaveral, Florida. The meeting was called
to Order at 5:30 p.m. by Chairperson Gene Petre. The Secretary called the roll.

ACTION/DISCUSSION ITEMS
1. Approval of Special Meeting Minutes of May 13. 2014
Motion by Mr. Woodside, seconded by Mr. Schoenholz to approve the Special Meeting Minutes
of May 13, 2014 as written. Vote on the motion carried unanimously.
2. Staff Reports
Mr. Vergara reviewed his Staff Report and summarized Leisure Services activities/updates as
follows: interior painting of racquetball courts scheduled for September 8 with approximate
completion date of September 12; contractor has been selected for Manatee Sanctuary Park
parking lot paving project; positive feedback being received on new Farmers Market day; the
success of the 3V3 basketball league; the recommendation that members view Friday
Fest/Fa'wers Market videos on City website; holes in Youth Center walls caused by a termite
infestation have been patched; water fountain problem at Youth Center caused by ants has been
repaired; termite perimeter is now in place; scored well on projects submitted to FRDP and
FIND for funding, but fell a bit short — projects being restructured for future submittal; rationale
for scheduling Back to School Jamboree on Wednesday, August 13, 2014; and the success of
Summer Camp.
Mr. Vergarathanked the Board for its assistance with Chapter 54, which passed both readings.
Fee Schedule is anticipated to go to City Council in August as one Resolution for the entire City.
Mr. Petre thanked Mr. Vergara for his report.

ESS:
• PAL Program: Update/status provided to members.
• Banana River Park Playground: Because the City was not awarded the grant and
feedback from the public, it will not be relocated to Manatee Sanctuary Park.
Motion by Mr. Dattilo, seconded by Ms. Woodside that the Culture and Leisure Services Board
and the City Council allocate money for the creation of a playground at Manatee Sanctuary Park.
Vote on the motion carried unanimously.
• 3V3 Basketball League: Update/status provided to members.
• Reindeer Run Date/T-Shirt Issue: Event is second Saturday in December; Explanation of
T-Shirt Issue provided to members.
Mr. Petre reminded members that the next meeting of the Culture and Leisure Services Board is
Tuesday, September 23, 2014.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 6:21 p.m.
