IV. UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
At this time Mrs.Lesser and Mrs. Salamone took up the subject of the
memorabilia which had been offered to the library for display by Mrs. Thurm
at the May Library' Board Meeting. They related that Mrs. Thurm had felt that
the Board had been unenthusiastic on this matter. Mrs. Escapa assured them
that this was not the case. She explained, however, that upon doing research
which included contacting the archivist at the State Library at Tallahassee,
it was very easy to damage valued old papers and pictures when they were
exposed to general use or viewing. Special display cases would have to be
purchased for this project which would require some expense.
Chairman Grady also assured everyone that he too, was in favor of finding
some practical method of showing the memorabilia to the public. He made
it clear that he had tried to contact Mrs. Thurm on this matter and had been
unable to do so.
It was decided that anything that could not be safely housed in the library,
belonging to Mrs. thurm or Mrs. Lesser would be kept at the Town Hall.
Mrs. Lesser suggested that she and the Director get together at a convenient
time, before Fall, and decide how best to settle this issue.
A motion was made by Mrs. Butte, seconded by Mrs. Goff, that Mrs. Escapa
write a letter to Mrs. Thurm explaining to her that the library is very
happy to accept her material but it is a question of how best to display it
in the space available.
V. NEW BUSINESS:
It was decided that policy for the use of materials donated to the library
should be based on guidelines laid down by the Brevard County Commissioners.
Motion by Mrs. Butte, seconded by Mrs. Goff to accept this policy.
