December 11, 1974
Acting chairman, Nancy Hanson, opened the meeting by
introducing each of the members of the committee, All
committee members were present.
Election of committee officers was held with. the following
results:
Chairman: John Butler
Vice -Chairman: Harry Rhame
Secretary: Nancy Hanson
Tim Lemper from the counfey planning office presented a
design proposal of the recreation complex. The design
included 4 tennis courts, a'aeshuffleboard coUrts, 2-
three wall and. I -four wall handball courts and facilities
for exterior parking. Following a lenghty discussion on
Mr. Lemper's design the following conclusions were made:
1. City ordinance would prohibit exterior parking at
the complex.
2. Five tennis courts should be in the complex.
Vice -Chairman Rhame suggested that Mr. Lemper survey the
number of available parking spaces near the complex at
this time and project the number that will be needed
when the -complex is operational.
Vice -Chairman Rhame made a motion that Allen Engineering
Company, Cocoa Beach, be hired by the City to survey the
property --survey to include a topographical and tree
location. Nancy Hanson seconded the motion. Passed
unanamously. City Manager Bert Francis was directed to
contact the Engineering firm. Once the survey is
completed a copy will be sent to Mr. Lemper to aid him
in his design work.
Bob Laws made a motion that the complex be laid out in
the same numerical order, without parking, that was on
the referendum. Harry Rhame seconded the motion. Motion
passed with }!are and Van Wagner casting opposing votes.
Next meeting of the committee will be held icionday;
January 13th, 1975.
