This has been sent to the Fire Department for review.
We have reviewed it also.
Although the areas you present do not exactly match with the plans on file
in our office, we concur with the occupant load calculations of the Board
Room and the Meeting Room. However, the Dining Room (Hearth Room) doesn't
match our calculation when we apply the Restaurant (without fixed seats)
rate of 15 net.
Also, with regard to the Lobby, Sales and Library rooms, please note that
FBe 403.1.2 requires occupancy signs to be located in all Assembly,
Auditorium or rooms used for similar purposes.

has no objection to the issuance of the permit; however these comments must be
addressed prior to the first inspection.
1. Metal stairs to attic access hatch must be a "Ship's Ladder". Provide shop
drawings before fabrication.
2. Provide 22" x 48" attic access hatch.
3. Sheet A803 section 3 plans show 48" balcony railing and section 4 shows
a 42" balcony railing, please clarify.
4. Provide railing specs. Railings must comply with FBC 2001 with 2003
revisions 1015.3 Openings. Sheet A803 Sec. 4 shows 3 ~ opening
between bottom rail and deck.
5. Provide floor drains for the fire pump room note #8 on fire pump room
checklist.
6. Linen chute must comply with NFPA 82. The specification section 14560

In re$pODSO to your request. Professional Service Industries, mc. (pSI) has conduoted a pile load
test for axial compression at the Bubjeet project. This letter is intended as a proliminary report of'
oW" findings. A formal. dctailed, technical report is to follow.
On February 28.2005. PSI representatives conducted axial compressive loading of pile 1# 1272
within the project. This pile was selected rrom four lest piles that were installed to depths of 80
feet below rhe ~ uade on February 17. 2005. Loading of the pile was performed. utilizing
a calibrated hydraulic ram, provided by the piling contractor .John ~uder. The testing was
performed in aceordancc with ASTM D1143. The piles are reportedly designed as 78-ton
. C3plOity and the test was performed to an ultimate loading of 157.8 tons. 6lightly more than
twic;e the design load The &Yflrage measured deflection un4er ultimate load was 0,131" and the
average measured net settlement was 0.049", It is our opinion that this tC&t result indicates that
tbe pile as installed will perform in accordance with the foundation design.

and the fire alarm system. These shop drawings are scheduled to be available by March 11, 2005 for submission
to you. We have attached the re-shore plan for your review.
We have completed the test pile program and have received a positive result, which will allow us to begin
production piles as soon as we receive your authorization to proceed. Should you issue us the appropriate permit,
we are scheduled to clear the remaining vegetation, grade the building pad and will be ready to drive piles on
March 21,2005.
Weare requesting your final review of the documents and issuance of a building permit that will allow us to
proceed with this project. Should you have any questions or need clarification, then our team is ready to meet

area is still designated a construction area. Adequate safeguards shall be maintained to ensure this restriction until a final

The fIre alarm panel that is located in the fIrst floor electrical rooms 110 and 138 meets the
environmental requirements by the manufacturer without adding conditioned air to the space.
The Silent Knight fIre alarm panel requires that the room be between 32 and 120 degrees F
and the humidity be between 10%-80% at 86 degrees F. The spaces are currently ventilated
with an exhaust fan and louvered doors to meet the minimum code requirements. PEl fInds
this to be acceptable.

Peninsula Engineering, Inc. has reviewed the request to add a one common shunt trip to your
electrical service per the request of the local building official. There are currently only two
ways to accomplish this. One is to route an overhead conduit and wire from one service
disconnect to the other. The second method is to route an electrical conduit and wiring below
grade from one service to the other. However, there is no code violation relative to the
current installation. All versions of the code allow for more than one service where the
capacity requirements are in excess of two thousand amps or where the structure or building
is sufficiently large to make two or more services necessary. At this point in the construction
process, we believe it is the unnecessary burden to the owner to fulfill this request and
suggest that you further review it with the authority having jurisdiction.
