CANAVERAL, FLORIDA AUTHORIZING THE CITY TO `•ENTER INTO A "SISTER CITY"` RELATIONSHIP WITH THE CITY OF KITA ' KYUSHU, JAPAN* PROVIDING AN:EFFEC- TIVE DATE. WHEREAS,,The City of Cape Canaveral, by virtue of ..its name.and geographical location., for more than 25 years has been associated- with Space exploration; and WHEREAS; the City of''Kita- Kyushu, Japan, is noted as an. informational City on international technology for the promotion of peaceful uses of space; and WHEREAS, these. two cities -share this, common bond of association with exploration, adventure," and history; and WHEREAS, there has and continues to be a friendly, cooperative commercial, financial, cultural and beneficial relationship between the United States of American and the Republic of Japan; and WHEREAS, there has been communication between the City of Kita- Kyushu and the City of Cape Canaveral to determine the desir- ability and feasibility of entering into a Sister City relationship; NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Cape Canaveral, Brevard County,-Florida as follows: SECTION 1. The City of Cape Canaveral accepts the - proposal to become a Sister- City .with.the City of Kita- Kyushu, - ._Japan: SECTION 2. The City of Cape Canaveral will pursue this relationship - within the limitations imposed by legal," budgetary, personnel, time .and other constraints which,may.- arise. SECTION 3. The City of Cape Canaveral- agrees to welcome visitors and delegations from the City of Kita - Kyushu under the guidelines of Section 2.. SECTION 4. The City - of Cape Canaveral agrees to promote ,reciprocal visitations to its Sister City, under the guidelines of Section 2. RESOLUTION.NO. 92 -11 PAGE 1 -OF 2 PAGES SECTION 5.
