ADVISORY BOARD DRAFT MINUTES 3-23-13

Marlene Woodside, Maureen 'Michel

CALL TO ORDER: Mr. Petre called the meeting to order at 5:30.
APPROVAL: AL: Mr. Raymond made the motion to accept the minutes from the May 28,
2013 meeting. Ms. Michel seconded, the motion passed unanimously.
$T1JtFPORTS: Mr. Vergara reviewed the Culture and Leisure Services Advisory
Board Staff` Report, He explained the new process in which the non-profit groups will
pull the permits for the sale of liquor at the Friday Felts. He stated that we have turned
the whole process over to the non-profit groups and we charge them a flat fee.
Discussion ensued. Mr. Petre mentioned that at the Reindeer Run it would be nice to give
a plaque to the oldest person and to the one who traveled farthest distance to which Mr.
Vergara responded that a new category should be added for 80 years olds because we are
seeing older citizens enter the race+ Mr. Vergara reminded the board to come out and
support the National Night Out. It is not our event but we parer with the BCSO. There
will be free food, a DJ and bounce houses. Mr. Vergara also added that the Back to
School Jamboree is in on Saturday and stuffing the backpacks will be on August 1 at
6:00prn until we finish+ He also informed the board that FPL would be upgrading the
lights around the recreation complex, parking lot and library for security reasons. Mr.,
Vergara also explained that he was working on a "catch all" ordinance for the parks
which will address the fishing issues. The board will have a chance to review it and give
their input.
OLIO B LJ SIDES : Ms. Woodside said she had questions regarding the report submitted
by Mr. Schoenholz. Since he was not present it will be discussed at another meeting.
PUBLIC INPUT: None
NEW BUSINESS: Mr. Raymond commented that he noticed a better appreciation for the
tennis courts during Friday Felt in regards to the bounce houses and didn't observe rood
and beverages on the courts.
ADJOURNMENT: With no further business to conduct Mr. Petre asked for an
adjournment to which Ms. Robinson moved to adjourn the meeting, Mr. Dattilo
seconded. Mrt Petro adjourned the meeting at 6:30pm. Next meeting is scheduled for July
23,2013.
PARKS TOUR: The board took a tour of all the parks located in the City.
