REGULAR MEETING
CITY COUNCIL
May 5, 1970
A Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Cape
Canaveral was held on May 5, 1970 at the City Hall, 105 Polk Avenue,
Cape Canaveral, Florida at 7:30 P.M.
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Richard R. Thurm.
The roll was called by the City Clerk. Officials present
were Mayor Richard R. Thurm; Councilmen Charles Berkebile, Leo
Nicholas and G. J. Salvaggio; City Manager A. J. Francis; Assistant
City Attorney Dick Scott; City Clerk Anita Ostrom and Sgt. at Arms
Chief Willard Winnett.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of April 21, 1970 were
read.by the Clerk and approved as read.
Item 1. Resolution 70 -16 - Appointment of Election Board.
Mayor Thurm read the Resolution entitled "A RESOLUTION
APPOINTING ELECTION BOARD FOR JUNE 2nd GENERAL CITY ELECTION;
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE."
By motion of Mr. Salvaggio, seconded by Mr. Nicholas and
unanimous vote of the Council, the resolution was adopted.
Item 2. Ordinance 3 -70 - Amendment to Zoning Ordinance re:
Condominiums (1st reading)
Mayor Thurm read the Ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE AMENDING
ORDINANCE NO. 81 -64, ARTICLE V, SECTIONS 4 & 5, RELATING TO THE
ADDITION OF COOPERATIVE APARTMENTS AND CONDOMINIUMS WITHIN THE
CLASSIFICATION OF THE MULTI - FAMILY AND MULTIPLE FAMILY SECTION
AND ARTICLE XV, DEFINITIONS OF THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF
CAPE CANAVERAL, FLORIDA.; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE."
Mr. Nicholas moved to approve first reading of the ordinance.
Mr. Salvaggio seconded the motion.
Mr. Nicholas moved to amend the ordinance by deleting the word
"rental" in line 3 of section C. Mr. Salvaggio seconded this motion
and the vote was unanimous for the amendment.
The vote on the original motion was unanimous and the first
reading was approved on the ordinance as amended.
Mr. Salvaggio moved to add an item to the agenda. Mr. Nicholas
seconded and the vote was unanimous in favor.
Mr. Salvaggio made a motion to designate the add on as item 3-
Resolution 70 -17 authorizing additional hours for registration.
Mr. Nicholas seconded and the motion carried by unanimous vote.

Mayor Thurm read the resolution entitled "A RESOLUTION
AUTHORIZING ADDITIONAL HOURS FOR VOTER REGISTRATION; PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE."
Mr. Salvaggio moved to adopt the resolution, Mr. Nicholas
seconded and by unanimous vote the motion carried.
By motion of Mr. Salvaggio the meeting was adjourned at
9:10 P.M. tA
