HomeMy WebLinkAbout02-03-1970 Regular Meetingi K s + REGULAR MEETING CITY CODICIL February 3, 1970 A Regular Feting of the City Council of the City. of Cape Canaveral was held on February 3, 1970 at the City Hall, 105 Polk Avenue, Cape Canaveral, Florida at 7:30 P.M. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Richard R. Thumm. The roll was called by the City Clerk. Officials present were Mayor Richard R. Thunn; Councilmen Charles Berkebile, Leo Nicholas, G. J. Salvaggio and Martin Schrider; City Manager A. J. Francis; City Attorney Stanley Wolfman; City Clerk Anita Ostrom and Sgt. at Arms Chief Willard Winnett. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of January 20, 1970 were read by the Clerk and approved as read. Item 1. Resolution 70 -2 - City application for open space funds. Mayor Thu= read the resolution entitled "CITY APPLICATION FOR GRANT TO ACQUIRE OPEN -SPACE LAND FROM DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE." Mr. Salvaggio moved to pass the resolution. Mr. Nicholas seconded and the motion carried by unanimous vote of the Council. Mr. Nicholas made a motion to add an item to the agenda; said item to be Resolution 70 -3 re: Brevard County League of Municipalities. Mr. Salvaggio seconded the motion and it carried by unanimous vote. Item 2. Resolution 70 -3 - Brevard County League of Municipalities Mayor Thum read the resolution entitled "A RESOLUTION AFFILIATING THE CITY OF CAPE CANAVERAL, FLORIDA, AS A REGULAR MEMBER OF A NON- PROFIT CORPORATION KNOWN AS 'BREVARD COUNTY LEAGUE OF MUNICIPALITIES, INC."; AUTHORIZING PAYMENT OF ANNUAL DUES TO SAID CORPORATION; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE." Mr. Nicholas moved to adopt the resolution, Mr. Berkebile seconded and the motion carried by unanimous vote. On a motion by Mr. Berkebile, seconded by Mr. Schrider and unanimous vote, another item was added to the agenda for resolution no. 70 -4 regarding Oceanographic Research. Item 3. Resolution 70 -4 - Oceanographic Research and Educational Center. Mayor Thurm read the resolution entitled "A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE PLACEMENT AND HOUSING OF AN OCEANOGRAPHIC RESEARCH AND EDUCATION CENTER AT PORT CANAVERAL, FLORIDA; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE." By motion of Mr. Berkebile, seconded by Mr. Schrider and unanimous vote of the Council the resolution was adopted. The City Clerk was instructed to send a copy of the resolution to each member of the Port Commission.
