HomeMy WebLinkAbout10-07-1969 Regular MeetingU-"NUF,: rw CITY COUNCIL October 7, 1969 MICROFILMED 4 -24 -80 A Regular Meeting of the City Council of Cape Canaveral was held on October 7, 1969 at the City Hall, 105 Polk Avenue, Cape Canaveral, Florida at 7:36 P.M. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Richard R. Thurm. The roll was called by the City Clerk. Officials present were Mayor Richard R. Thurm; Councilmen Charles Berkebile, Leo Nicholas and G. J. Salvaggio; City Manager A. J. Francis; City Attorney Stanley Wolfman; City Clerk Anita Ostrom, and Sgt. at Arms Officer Melvin. The minutes of the Regular.Meeting of the City Council and the meeting of the Board of Adjustment, of September 2, 1969, were read by the Clerk and approved as read. Treasury Reports for the months of August and September, 1969 were approved as submitted. Item 1. Ordinance no. 8 -69 - Civil Emergency (1st reading) Mayor Thurm read the Ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CAPE CANAVERAL, FLORIDA, DEFINING CIVIL EMERGENCY; DEFINING CURFEW; AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR, OR CITY MANAGER OR CITY COMMISSIONER TO PROCLAIM THE EXISTENCE OF A CIVIL EMERGENCY; AUTHORIZATION TO IMPOSE CURFEW DURING SUCH CIVIL EMERGENCY; TO REGULATE THE CONDUCT OF CERTAIN BUSINESSES LURING CIVIL EMERGENCY; PRESCRIBING PENALTIES FOR VIOLATIONS; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECT- IVE DATE." On a motion by Mr. Berkebile, seconded by Mr. Salvaggio and and unanimous vote of the Council, first reading was approved. Item 2. Resolution no. 69 -32 - Contract with County Tax Assessor. Mayor Thurm read the resolution entitled "A RESOLUTION APPOINTING COUNTY TAX ASSESSOR AS TAX ASSESSOR FOR THE CITY OF CAPE CANAVERAL, FLORIDA; AUTHORIZING ASSESSOR'S CONTRACT; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE." Mr. Nicholas made the motion to pass the resolution. Mr. Berkebile seconded and the motion carried by unanimous vote of the Council. Item 3. Resolution no. 69 -33 - Contract with County Tax Collector. Mayor Thurm read the resolution entitled "A RESOLUTION APPOINTING TAX COLLECTOR FOR THE CITY OF CAPE CANAVERAL, FLORIDA; PROVIDING FOR COMP - 'ENSATION; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE." On a motion by Mr. Salvaggio, seconded by Mr. Nicholas and unanimous vote of the Council, the resolution was adopted. Item 4. Resolution no. 69 -34 - Adopt*g 1969 Tax Roll and setting millqge rate. PAGE/ OM . r t� MICROFILMED 4 -24 -80 Mayor Thum read the resolution entitled "A RESOLUTION ADOPTING 1969 -1970 VALUATION OF PROPERTIES, FOR PURPOSE OF STORM DRAINAGE AD VALOREM TAXATION; SETTING AND PRESCRIBING RATE OF AD VALOREM TAXATION IN SUPPORT OF THE STORM DRAINAGE PROGRAM; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE." Mr. Nicholas made a motion, seconded by Mr. Berkebile and by unanimous vote of the Council, the resolution was adopted. Item 5. Resolution 69 -35 - Appointment 6f Library Board Members. Mayor Thum read the resolution entitled "A RESOLUTION APPOINTING MEMBERS TO THE LIBRARY BOARD; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE." On a motion by Mr. Salvaggio, seconded by Mr. Nicholas and unanimous vote of the Council the resolution was adopted, appointing Mrs. Raymond Fonner, Mrs. William Gorman, Mrs. E. H. Rhame and Mrs. Arthur Weichsel to the Board„ On a motion by Mr. Salvaggio, seconded by Mr. Berkebile and agreed unanimously, the meeting was adjourned at 9 :17 P.M.
