REGULAR MEETING
CITY COUNCIL
June 3, 1969
A Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Cape
Canaveral was held on June 3, 1969 at the City Hall, 105 Polk Avenue,
Cape Canaveral, Florida at 7:45 P.M.
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Richard R. Thurm.
The roll was called by the City Clerk. Officials present were
Mayor Richard R. Thurm; Counciimen.Frank Hoog, Leo Nicholas, G.- J. Salvaggio,
and Martin Schrider; City Administrator A. J. Francis; City Attorney Stanley
Wolfman; City Clerk Anita Ostrom and Sgt. at Arms Willard Winnett.
The minutes of the Regular meeting and the Board of Adjustment
meeting of May 20, 1969 were read by the Clerk and approved as read.
OLD BUSINESS:
Item 1. Resolution 69 -19 - Awarding Fence Bid.
Mayor Thurm read the bids and reviewed the specifications for
the fence. Mr. Salvaggio made a motion to table this item for further study.
Mr. Schrider seconded the motion and it carried by unanimous vote of the Council.
NEW BUSINESS:
Item 1. Election Items.
Eight absentee ballots were opened and canvassed by the Council,
as the canvassing board. The Clerk of the Election Board presented/Re Council
the results of the voting from the machines. Mayor Thurm read the final results,
with 404 voting, as follows:

Special Referendum Election:
Item 1. Police
Item 2. Recreation
Item 3. Fire Protection

Gasper J. Salvaggio

Therefore, by virtue of their plurality, those who were elected
for a two year term were: Richard R. Thurm (239) , Charles W. Berkebile (213)
and Gi J. Salvaggio (200). All special referendum items were defeated. There
being no protests, the tabulation of results as certified by the Election Board
was approved. Mayor Thurm read the Resolution no. 69 -20 entitled "A RESOLUTION-

CERTIFYING THE RESULTS OF THE GENERAL ELECTION AND SPECIAL REFERENDUM
ELECTION OF JUNE 3, 1969."
Mr. Hoog made a motion to adopt the Resolution, Mr. Schrider
seconded and the motion carried by unanimous vote.of the Council.
Chief Winnett presented certificates to Sgt. Cannon and Sgt. Hill
for 200 hours of study, certifying them as teachers in the State of Florida.
On a motion by Mr. Salvaggio, seconded by Mr. Nicholas and agreed
unanimously, the meeting was adjourned at 8:20 P.M.
