HomeMy WebLinkAbout12-05-1967 Regular MeetingREGULAR COUNCIL MEETING December 5, 1967 The City Council of the City of Cape Canaveral, Florida, met in regular session on December 5, 1967, at City Hall, 105 Polk Avenue, Cape Canaveral, Florida, at 7:35 p.m. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Richard R. Thurm. The roll was called by Dee Devlin. Members present were Mayor Richard R. Thurm; Councilmen Frank Hoog, Vincent Lindemann, and G. J. Salvaggio; City Manager - City Clerk Joseph A. Rickards; City Attorney T. David Burns; and Sgt. at Arms Willard Winnett. Councilman Martin Schrider was absent. The minutes of the regular meeting of November 21, 1967, and the minutes of the Board of Adjustment meeting of November 21, 1967, were read by Dee Devlin. There being no corrections or additions, the minutes were approved as read. OLD BUSINESS: Item 1l Ordinance No. 8 -67 -- second reading. Mayor Thurm read the ordinance entitled, "AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 6 -62 AS AMENDED BY ORDINANCE NO. 6 -62B AS AMENDED BY ORDINANCE NO. 6A -63; REGULATING ESTABLISHMENTS DEALING IN ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES AS TO LOCATION, SANITARY CONDITIONS, AND HOURS OF SALE WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS OF CAPE CANAVERhL, FLORIDA, BY ENLARGING THE HOURS OF SALE IN ESTABLISHMENTS; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE ". Mr. Salvaggio made a motion to adopt the ordinance, and Mr. Hoog seconded the motion. Mr. Burns suggested several amendments. In Line 1, strike the semicolon and insert the words "AS AMENDED BY "; in Line 2, strike the word "AND" and insert the words "AS AMENDED BY "; in Lines 7 and 8, strike the words "REPEALING OF SECTION 2A Off" ORDINANCE 6A- 63 ;11.' Mr. Lindemann made a motion to adopt the amendments, Mr. Hoog seconded the motion, and the motion carried unanimously. Mr. Burns made a suggestion to MICROFILMED 4,24 -80 Regular Council Meeting December 5, 1967 Page Two strike Section 2 and change Section 3 to Section 2. Mr. Hoog made a motion to amend Section 2, Mr. Salvaggio seconded the motion, and the motion carried unanimously. The main motion carried unanimously. Item 2. Resolution No. 67 -62. Mayor Thurm read the resolution entitled, " A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE FLORIDA STATE ROAD DEPARTMENT TO AUTHORIZE REDUCTION OF VEHICULAR SPEED LIMITS ON U. S. HIGHWAY AlA NORTH OF THE INTERSECTION OF STATE ROAD #401 AND U. S. HIGHWAY AlA TO THE NORTH CITY LIMITS AND THE REDUCTION OF THE SPEED LIMITS ON STATE ROAD #401 FROM MONROE AVENUE NORTH TO THE NORTH CITY LIMITS; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE ". Mr. Hoog made a motion to adopt the resolution, Mr. Lindemann seconded the motion, and the motion carried unanimously. Item 3. Resolution 67 -63. Mr. Burns read the resolution entitled, "A RESOLUTION APPROVING AGREEMENT FOR AUDITING SERVICES BETWEEN THE CITY OF CAPE CANAVERAL, FLORIDA, AND ROSENBERG, DOBSON, AND COMPANY: PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE ". Mr. Lindemann made a motion to adopt the resolution, Mr. Hoog seconded the motion, and the motion carried unanimously. NEW BUSINESS: Item 1. Resolution No. 67 -64. Mayor Thurm read the resolution entitled, "A RESOLUTION ORDERING A CERTAIN PROPERTY OWNER TO ABATE NUISANCE CONDITIONS ON HIS PROPERTY OR TO SHOW CAUSE WHY HIS PROPERTY SHOULD NOT BE DECLARED A NUISANCE AT A CERTAIN TIME AND PLACE: PROVIDING ANiEFFECTIVE DATE ". Mr. Hoog made a motion to adopt the resolu- tion, Mr. Salvaggio seconded the motion, and the motion carried unanimously. Mayor Thurm read the resolution entitled, "A RESOLUTION REQUESTING A TRAFFIC SURVEY AT A CERTAIN INTERSECTION WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF CAPE CANAVERAL, FLORIDA: COMMITTING PAYMENT OF FUNDS FOR INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE: COMMITTING CITY TO CERTAIN REQUIREMENTS OF THE STATE ROAD DEPARTMENT IN REGARD TO INSTALLATION, MAINTENANCE OR CHANGE IN THE SYSTEM: PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE ". Mr. Lindemann made a motion to adopt the resolution, Mr. Salvaggio seconded the motion, and the motion carried unanimously.
