HomeMy WebLinkAbout11-15-1966 Regular Meeting-24 -80 MICROFILMED 4� REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING November 15, 1966 The City Council of the City of Cape Canaveral, Florida, met in Regular Session at the City Hall, 105 Polk Avenue, at 7.30 P.M. on the 15th day of November 1966. The Meeting was called to Order by Mayor Richard R. Thurm and the roll was called by the Clerk. Officials present were Mayor Richard R. Thurm, Councilmen Frank Hoog, Paul Kn.ittel, Vincent Lindemann, City Manager Joseph A. Rickards, City Attorney T. David Burns, City Clerk Donna J. Anderson and Sgt. at Arms Willard Winnett. The Minutes of the Regular Meeting of November 1, 1966 were read by the Clerk and with the correction that the Acting City Attorney Was.Irving Prop;per, the Minutes were approved. NEW BUSINESS Item 1. Authorization of Studv of Beach Erosion On the recommendation of the City Manager, Mr. Vince Lindemann made a Motion authorizing Briley Wild & Associates to make a study of beach erosion in an amount not to exceed $300.00. Mr. Kn.ittel seconded the Motion and it carried unanimously. Item 2. City Manager Ordinance - Powers and Duties ., Mayor Thurm gave lst reading to Ordinance #22 -66. On a Motion by Mr. Hoog, seconded by Mr. Lindemann and carried unanimously, the 1st reading was approved. Item 3. Appointment of Civil Defense Director Mayor Thurm read Resolution #37 authorizing the Council to appoint a Civil Defense Director. On a PAGE l OF 7. Motion by Mr. Lindemann, seconded by Mr. Hoog and carried unanimously, Chief Willard Winnett was appointed Civil Defense Director of the City of Cape Canaveral, Mr. Lindemann then read a letter from the Brevard Director of Civil.defense commending Chief Winnett for previous defense work in the County. Chief Winnett accepted the appointment. On a Motion by-Mr. Lindemann, seconded by Mr. Knittel and carried unanimously, a Special Meeting was set for November 17th at 8:00 P.M. for the purpose of accepting or rejecting the Bids on the Drainage General Obligation Bond issue. There being no other business before the Council, the Meeting was adjourned on a Motion by Mr. Lindemann, seconded by Mr. Knittel and carried unanimously this 15th day of November 1966, at 9:00 P.M.
