HomeMy WebLinkAbout03-29-1966 Special MeetingMICROFILMED 4 -24.80 SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING March 29, 1966 The Special Meeting of the City Council of the City of Cape Canaveral was held at 8:00 P.M. at the City Hall, 105 Polk Avenue, immediately following the closing of polls on March 290 1966. The Meeting was called to Order by Mayor Thurm and the roll was called by the Clerk. Officials present were Mayor Richard Thurm; Councilmen Leo Collins, Frank Hoog, rack Hurck, and Martin Schrider; City Manager J. A. Rickards; City Attorney T. David Burns; City Clerk Donna J. Anderson; and Sgt. at Arms: The Certificate of Results of the Election having been delivered to the Clerk by the Clerk of the Election Board was then given the Council. Mayor Thurm read the Certificate of Results as attached hereto and made a part of the Minutes hereof. The one absentee ballot was received by Mayor Thurm from the Clerk and was opened showing the vote "For The Bonds" Mayor Thurm then read a Resolution #66 -15, A RESOLUTION IN IN REGARD TO RETURNS AND DECLARATION OF RESULT OF THAT CERTAIN SPECIAL ELECTION CONDUCTED ON MARCH 29, 1966; PRO- VIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. Mr. Collins made a Motion the Resolution be adopted. Mr. Schrider seconded the Motion, Mayor Thurm called for any protests. There being none, the Resolution was adopted by the unanimous vote of the Council, a copy of which is attached hereto and made a part of the Minutes hereof. There being no other business before the Council, the Meeting was adjourned on a Motion by Mr. Hoog, seconded by Mr. Hurck and carried unanimously. A RESOLUTION IN REGARD TO THE CANVAS OF RETURNS AND DECLARATION OF RESULT OF THAT CERTAIN SPECIAL ELECTION CON- DUCTED ON MARCH 29, 1966; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, Section 14 of Ordinance No 32 -65 of the City of Cape Canaveral, Florida, provides that "It shall be the duty of"the.City Council to canvass the returns of all elections within forty -eight (48) hours after the returns are received and to declare the result of all elections." and WHEREAS the City Council has properly called itself into Official Special Session for the before stated purpose, Now Therefore, Be.It Resolved by the City Council of the.City of Cape Canaveral, Florida, as follows: SECTION 1. The Council having canvassed the returns of the Special Freeholders Election.conducted on March 29, 1966 In 'conformity with law, hereby declares the result of said election as follows: FOR BONDS ' ­: __< AGAINST BONDS TOTAL VOTERS PARTICIPATING SECTION 2.
