A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF CAPE CANAVERAL,
FLORIDA, SUPPORTING THE PLACEMENT OF THE TWO
PERCENT RESORT TAX ON THE NOVEMBER BALLOT;
REQUESTING SUCH A TAX BE USED TO FUND BEACH
RESTORATION AND CONSTRUCTION OF A CENTRALLY
LOCATED CONVENTION/CIVIC CENTER; AUTHORIZING
THE CITY CLERK TO SEND COPIES OF THE 1i
RESOLUTION TO THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMIS-
SIONERS AND THEIR ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF;
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Brevard County Board of County Commissioners
may elect to place a two percent resort tax on the November
ballot; and
WHEREAS, the beaches are Brevard County' s greatest tourist
attraction and natural asset; and
WHEREAS, such tax may be used to fund beach restoration and
the possible construction of a centrally located convention/civic
center; and
WHEREAS, such tax is imposed mainly upon tourists and
visitors to this area;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Cape
Canaveral, Florida, as follows:

SECTION 1. The City of Cape Canaveral urges the Board of
County Commissioners to take the necessary measures to establish
the resort tax as a referendum item for the November election.
SECTION 2 . The City requests any funds so generated be used
to fund beach restoration projects and the possible construction
of a centrally located convention/civic center.
SECTION 3 . The City Clerk is hereby authorized to mail this
resolution to the Board of County Commissioners and the County
administrative staff.
SECTION 4. This resolution shall take effect immediately
upon its adoption.
ADOPTED BY the City Council of the City of Cape Canaveral,
Florida, this day of , 1985.
