A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE COUNTY REESTABLISH
THE PREVIOUS LEVEL OF AMBULANCE SERVICE AND
INSURE AN ADEQUATE LEVEL OF AMBULANCE SERVICE;
DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO MAIL THIS RESOLUTION
TO ALL NEIGHBORING MUNICIPALITIES, THE BREVARD
COUNTY COMMISSION AND THE BREVARD LEGISLATIVE
DELEGATION; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Brevard County Government is responsible for providing
ambulance service to the citizens of Brevard county and in particular
the citizens of Cape Canaveral; and
WHEREAS, the County has unilaterially reduced the number of
qualified staff from three to two members; and
WHEREAS, in the normal emergency situation, with the ambulance
stationed at Cape Canaveral Hospital, the time needed for the backup
to arrive at the scene would be so great as to effectively negate
any benefit; and
WHEREAS, lack of backup could endanger lives and any cost
savings is not worth endangering lives; and
WHEREAS, ambulance service is one of the most vital services
that can be provided.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of Cape Canaveral, Florida, as follows:
SECTION 1. Brevard County is hereby requested to reinstate
adequate ambulance service and reinstate the third attendant on
all ambulances responding in Brevard County.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed
to provide copies of this Resolution to all neighboring
municipalities, the Brevard County Commission, and all members
of the Brevard Legislative Delegation.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately
upon its adoption.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Cape Canaveral,
Florida, this 18th day of September , 1984.
