A: RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE BREVARD COUNTY
LIBRARY BOARD AND THE.BREVARD COUNTY BOARD OF
COUNTY COMMISIONERS PROVIDE ADEQUATE FUNDS
FOR THE CAPE CANAVERAL PUBLIC LIBRARY;
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Cape Canaveral Public Library is of great
benefit to the City of Cape Canaveral, and
WHEREAS, the public library is funded by the Federation of
'County Libraries, and
'WHEREAS, the Cape Canaveral Public Library proposed budget
for fiscal year 1984 -85 is insufficient to allow, for the purchase
of new books, and
WHEREAS, the Cape Canaveral Public Library budget adopted
for the fiscal year 1983 -84 was insufficient to allow for the
purchase of new books, and
WHEREAS, the 1983 -84 budget was promulgated on circulation
figures, and
WHEREAS, in order to increase the circulation figures of the
Cape Canaveral Public Library, the Cape Canaveral City Council
donated additional monies to ensure extended operating hours, and
WHEREAS, this effort resulted in the largest percentage
increase in circulation in Brevard County,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
.City of Cape Canaveral, as follows:
SECTION 1., The Brevard County Library Board and the Brevard
County Board of County Commissioners are hereby requested to
revise the budgeting process and insure adequate funding for the
Cape Canaveral Public Library.
SECTION 2. The Brevard County Library Board and the Brevard
County Board of County Commissioners are hereby requested to
consider the dramatic increase in circulation and the growth of
interest in the Cape Canaveral Public Library and are encouraged
to help keep this high level of community involvement ongoing by
adequately funding the Cape Canaveral Public Library and in
particular to insure that the library has enough money to
purchase new books.'

SECTION 3. The City Clerk is hereby authorized to provide
copies of this Resolution to all members of the Brevard County
Library Board, the Brevard County Administrator and the Brevard
County Board of County Commissioners.
SECTION 4. This Resolution shall take effect immediately
upon its adoption.
ADOPTED this 15th day of May 1984.
