RESOLUTION NO. 84 -17
A RESOLUTION PROPOSING THAT ANY AVAILABLE
VESSEL BE USED AS AN ARTIFICAL REEF; PRO-
VIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, a freighter damaged by fire has been successfully
sunk off the coast of Broward County for the purpose of establish-
ing an artifical reef; and
WHEREAS, reef specialists expect that within one year the
reef will attract marine life and provide a food chain of small
fish to attract grouper, snapper, amber3ack, tuna and other large
fish.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of Cape Canaveral, Florida, as follows:
SECTION 1. That the City of Cape Canaveral does hereby
unanimously support the sucttling of any available vessel off
the coast of Brevard County to establish an artifical reef to
help protect the beach and enchance sport fishing by attracting
bait and game fish.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk is hereby directed to send a
copy of this Resolution to the Canaveral Port Authority.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect immediately
upon its adoption.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Cape Canaveral,
Florida, this lst day of May 1984.
