HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance No. 41-1985 failed ORDINANCE 41-85 AN ORDINANCE SUBMITTING TO THE ELECTORS OF CAPE CANAVERAL, FLORIDA, A STRAW-BALLOT REFERENDUM QUESTION TO ESTABLISH THE CITY'S POLICY REGARDING PROVIDING PORT CANAVERAL WITH FIRE EQUIPMENT; ESTABLISHING LANGUAGE FOR THE PROPOSED REFERENDUM QUESTION; ESTABLISHING THE DATE FOR THE PROPOSED REFERENDUM QUESTION; REPEALING ALL PORTIONS OF THE CODE IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of Cape Canaveral has at times provided fire protection to Port Canaveral; and WHEREAS, the City of Cape Canaveral wishes to ascertain the citizens of Cape Canaveral feelings regarding providing fire equipment to Port Canaveral; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Cape Canaveral, Florida, as follows: SECTION 1. There shall be a straw-ballot referendum question submitted to the electors of the City of Cape Canaveral, Florida, on the scheduled November 5, 1985 election regarding providing fire equipment and service to Port Canaveral. SECTION 2. Referendum question shall read as follows: Port Canaveral Fire Protection Referendum Should the City of Cape Canaveral provide fire equipment and services to Port Canaveral? Yes No SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall advertise the proposed referendum pursuant to Florida Statutes. SECTION 4 . All portions of the code in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. SECTION 5. This ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its adoption. ADOPTED BY the City Council of the City of Cape Canaveral, Florida, this day of 1985.
