HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 1996-331 RESOLUTION NO. 96-33 A RESOLUTION ADOPTING A TENTATIVE PROPOSED MILLAGE RATE FOR THE LEVY OF Al) VALOREM TAXES FOR 1996 ON ALL TAXABLE PROPERTY LOCATED WITHIN THE CITY OF CAPE CANAVERAL, BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA; PROVIDING FOR AN Et le DATE. WHEREAS, the retirement of indebtedness for Storm Drainage by ad valorem taxes has been approved in referendum elections; and WHEREAS, the electors approved in the 1985 referendum election the construction, maintenance and operation of a library by ad valorem taxes; and WHEREAS, the electors approved in the 1986 referendum election the imposition of ad valorem taxes for beautification projects; and WHEREAS, the electors approved in the 1990 referendum election the imposition of ad valorem taxes for Fire/Rescue Services; and WHEREAS, the electors approved in the 1990 referendum election the imposition of ad valorem taxes for Police Protection; and WHEREAS, the City wishes to impose said ad valorem taxes. NOW, 'THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Cape Canaveral, Brevard County, Florida, as follows: Section 1. The City of Cape Canaveral, Brevard County, Florida, hereby adopts and imposes a tentative proposed millage rate of .4519 mill for the Beautification Dependent Special District, as approved in the 1986 referendum election. This tentative proposed ad valorem 1 1 1 City of Cape Canaveral, Florida Resolution No. 96 -33 Page 2 • tax shall be levied upon the 1996 Tax Assessment Roll for ad valorem tax on all taxable property located within the City of Cape Canaveral and is to be used for the City's fiscal year beginning October 1, 1996 and ending September 30, 1997. Section 2. The City of Cape Canaveral, Brevard County, Florida, hereby adopts and imposes a tentative proposed millage rate of .0386 mill for the Library Dependent Special District, as approved in the 1985 referendum election. This tentative proposed ad valorem tax shall be levied upon the 1996 Tax Assessment Roll for ad valorem tax on all taxable property located within the City of Cape Canaveral and is to be used for the City's fiscal year beginning October 1; 1996 and ending September 30, 1997. Section 3. The City of Cape Canaveral, Brevard County, Florida, hereby adopts and imposes a tentative proposed millage rate of 0.0 mill for the retirement of indebtedness for Storm Drainage, as approved in referendum elections. This tentative proposed ad valorem tax shall be levied upon the 1996 Tax Assessment Roll for ad valorem tax on all taxable property located within the City of Cape Canaveral and is to be used for the City's fiscal year beginning October 1, 1996 and ending September 30, 1997. Section 4. The City of Cape Canaveral, Brevard County, Florida, hereby adopts and imposes a tentative proposed millage rate of .5000 mill for Fire/Rescue Service General Operating Millage, as approved in the 1994 referendum election. This tentative proposed ad valorem tax shall be levied upon the 1996 Tax Assessment Roll for ad valorem tax on all taxable property located within the City of Cape Canaveral and is to be used for the City's fiscal year beginning October 1, 1996 and ending September 30, 1997. 1 1 1 City of Cape Canaveral, Florida Resolution No. 96 -33 Page 3 Section 5. The City of Cape Canaveral, Brevard County, Florida, hereby adopts and imposes a tentative proposed millage rate of .5000 mill for Police Protection General Operating Millage, as approved in the 1994 referendum election. This tentative proposed ad valorem tax shall be levied upon the 1996 Tax Assessment Roll for ad valorem tax on all taxable property located within the City of Cape Canaveral and is to be used for the City's fiscal year beginning October 1, 1996 and ending September 30, 1997. Section 6. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption. ADOPTED BY the City Council of the City of Cape Canaveral, Brevard County, Florida, this 16th day of July , 1996 Motion made by Mayor Pro Tem Randels and seconded by Mr. Bruns to Adopt Resolution No. Resolution No. 96 -33, adopting a tentative proposed millage rate for 1996.
