RESOLUTION NO. 94 -55
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF CAPE CANAVERAL, BREVARD
COUNTY, FLORIDA; SUPPORTING THE CREATION AND MISSION OF
THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION OF EAST CENTRAL
FLORIDA'S DEFENSE SUPPORT /DIVERSIFICATION INITIATIVE;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Cape Canaveral is deeply committed to the
concept of maintaining a strong national defense; and
WHEREAS, the City views Patrick Air Force Base and Cape
Canaveral Air Force Station as valuable local resources, as well as
natural resources; and
WHEREAS, the City is cognizant of the pending downsizing of
the Department of Defense and the potential impact this process can
have on these defense installations; and
WHEREAS, the City is both cognizant and aware of the
tremendous positive impact these facilities have on the local
economy and the local quality of life; and
WHEREAS, the City believes it is important for the community
to take a pro- active and coordinated role in working with all
governmental agencies involved in determining the future status of
these local defense facilities.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City
of Cape Canaveral, Brevard County, Florida, as follows:
8{ECTION 1. The City Council of the City of Cape Canaveral
pledges its cooperation with the Defense Support /Diversification
Initiative program of the Economic Development Commission of East
Central Florida.
SECTION 2. The City Council of the City of Cape Canaveral
supports the creation of the Economic Development Commission of

East Central Florida Defense Support /Diversification Initiative as
the community's designated representative to said governmental
agencies.
SECTION 3. The effective date of this Resolution shall be
immediately upon adoption.
ADOPTED BY the City Council of the City of Cape Canaveral,
Florida, this 18t1 day of October
1994.
