I. Vice Chairman John Datillo called the meeting to order at 5:02PM. He announced that
in the absence of regular members, G. •Petrie would be a voting member at this meeting.
II. G. Petrie moved and M. Kulac-Tiaini seconded that the Minutes of the December 6,
2004 RAID Meeting be accepted as written. The motion carried.
III. The Parks and Recreation Budget To -Date Report was reviewed with N. Hanson.
IV. The Director of Recreation, N. Hanson, presented her Report. Board Members took
special mite of the following:
■ The completion of Phase II for Manatee San Park and the submission of
paperwork to DEP close out that FRDP grant. G. pointed out guttering was
needed on the side of the pavilion to preclude the build up of green slime from
rainwater run-off; he also asked that responsibilities for locking/ unlocking the
facility be rearmed with in the city management since he had found it not open
one day.
• The start of engineering design for the Banana River Park soccer fields.
• The active schedule for youth activities including start of the Space Coast Little
League Baseball season.
V. Under Unfinished Business there was considerable discussion amnoembers
regarding the lack of use of the Softball Field at Canaveral City Park. G. " • provided
a talking paper as the basis for this (copy attached). There was consensus of thought that
maybe, with the shifting demographics in the city, there might be interest in older adult
slow -pitch leagues and community galas of various types. Vice Chairman Datillo asked
all Members to bring a list of their ideas and concerns for use to the next meeting for
draft and submission to the City Council.
VI. Under New Business, Vice Chairman Datillo called for nominations for officers to
the RAB this year. R. Mead nominated H. Renshaw to continue as Chairman. G.
seconded the nomination and it passed unanimously with all Members present. G.
nominated J. Datillo to continue as Vice Chairman; M. Kulac-Taiani seconded, and
the nomination carried unanimously of all Members present. G. Petrie nominated B.

Gorham to continue as Secretary, C. Troutman seconded, and the nomination carried
unanimously with all Members present.
Also under New Business, Vice Chairman J. Datillo called Member's attention to
invitations present for the Manatee Sanctuary Park Dedication/Community Celebration
scheduled for March 5, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. Recreation Director N. Hanson explained
plans and preparations underway for the affair and asked those Members of the RAB
volunteering to serve as required at the ceremony to please confirm their availability with
her at the Recreation Office.
VII. There being no further discussion, Vice Chairman J Datillo advised the next RAB
Meeting was scheduled for May 24, 2004. Bob Gorham moved to adjourn the Meeting
and Connje Trautman seconded. The motion carried, and Vice Chairman J. Datillo
ad'ourned the ;sting at 5:55 p.m.

SOFTBALL FIELD USAGE
CAPE CANAVERAL CITY PARK

Other Usage: Easter Egg Hunt - currently used by Rec Department
Softball 50+ Team - practice and play games. (can play
other Brevard County 50+ teams).
Antique Car Show - event put on by area Antique Club.
Community Garage Sale -mark off 10'x10' area (100 sq.ft.) fbr
people to bring items and sell. A $25
charge for each space. End of January.
Canaveral Fest 2006 -possible February or November dates
& includes fun and games for all ages.
Food vendors; Arts & Crafts;
Entertainment; Community Clubs &
Organization Showcase; Rock
Climbing; Face Painting; etc.
Church Softball - possible use by 4 or 5 area churches.
Other Park Sand Volleyball Court - Open play and a league with 4 on 4 and
Activities: 2 on 2 play. Area needs to be developed.
Horseshoe Pits - plenty of space available for a couple
of regulation pits.
