TOWN MEETING
June 1, 1993
An informal Town Meeting was held on June 1, 1993, at the City Hall
Annex, 111 Polk Avenue, Cape Canaveral, Florida. The meeting was
called to order at 5:00 P.M. by Mayor Salamone.

Twelve (12) citizens of Cape Canaveral were present in the
audience.
There was general discussion among Councilmembers, City staff, and
City residents present regarding the following topics:
1. Possible location of Christopher Columbus statute and
Mini City tourist attraction within Cape Canaveral. Of
the twelve (12) residents present, ten (10) were opposed
to location of the attraction in Cape Canaveral.
2. Beautification Board was commended for its excellent
efforts to beautify and improve the City.
3. Residents questioned whether or not the City could
regulate helicopters within the City limits. Opinion had
been given previously that the City could not regulate
helicopters. The City Attorney would need to review the
issue further.
4. Residents questioned how the City would provide access to
parcels of land located north of the Villages of Seaport.
There was general discussion regarding the Ridgewood
Avenue extension.
5. Residents requested larger recycling bins for Canaveral
Towers, especially during the winter months.
6. Mr. Leon Newman presented an overview of past projects
which had been proposed and failed because of public
outcry. He encouraged the support of Cape Canaveral
citizens for the Columbus statute and Mini -City Theme
Park.
