HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No.68-01o • RESOLUTION 110. 68 -1 A RESOLUTION INITIATING A PROGRAM FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROVIDING CERTAIN STREET IMPROVE14ENTS IN THE CITY OF CAPE CANAVERAL, FLORIDA, DESIGNATING THE AREA AS TO BE IMPROVED AND INSTRUCTING THE CONSULTING ENGINEERS TO PREPARE A11 41ITH PLANS ANDASPECIFICATIONSpREANDOANDE ASSESSED, ESTIMATE Of THE COST OF SUCH PROPOSED LOCAL ItiPROVE- MENTS; PROVIDING AND EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAPE CANAVERAL, FLORIDA, that; SECTION 1. This Resolution is adopted pursuant to the provisions of Chapter 17n, Florida Statutes and other applic- able provisions of law. SECTION 2.It is hereby found and determined as follows: A. It is necessary for the continued preservation of the health and welfare, convenience and safety of the City and its inhabitants to provide for and construct certain street im- provements in the City, including the repair, grading, pav- ing, widening, guttering, hard surfacing and draining of certain streets, ( hereinafter called the "Project ") in accordance with certain plans and specifications prepared by Briley, Wild & Associates, Consulting Engineers of the City. B. The estimated cost of the construction of the project is the sum of $720,000.00. The cost of such project shall be payable by the levy and collection of special assessments against the properties abutting, adjoining or contiguous to the improvements to be constructed. Such cost, in addition to the specific items contained in the plans and specifications to be approved by the City Council may be deemed to include the items which are authorized by Section 170.03, Florida Statutes. SECTION 3. The project, as hereinabove described is hereby initiated and shall include the area described in Exhibit A attached hereto and made a part hereof. SECTION 4. Briley, Wild and Associates, Consulting Engineers of the City, are hereby instructed to prepare an assessment plat showing the area to be assessed, with plans and specifications and the estimate of cost, when completed, shall be filed with the City Clerk and be open to the inspection of the public. SECTION 5. The area to be assessed shall for conven- ience be officially identified and designated as " Cape Canaveral Street Improvement Project ". SECTION 6. All resolutions in conflict with this Resolution, be and they are hereby revoked and repealed to the extent that they conflict with the provisions of this Resolution. SECTION 7. The City Clerk be and he is hereby ordered and directed to spread this Resolution in full among the minutes of this meeting for permanent record in his office. SECTION B: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage. RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAPE CANAVERAL ON THIS 24th DAY OF JANUARY, A.D., 196A.
