MAYOR AND CITY COUNCILMEN.
WI E'RI"AS, June 1, 1971 was proclaimed to he Election
Day for general elections in the City of Cape Canaveral, Florida,
and
WHIMEAS, a mayor and two city councilmen were to be
elected, and
WI IEREAS, only one candidate qualified to run for each
Position vacant and each was therefore unopposed, and
WHEREAS, Section 101. 151(5)(1)), Florida Statutes
declares that an unopposed candidate's name shall not appear
on the general election ballot and that each unopposed candidate
is deemed to have voted for himself, therefore,
BE 11' RESOLVED BY '11113 CITY COUNCIL OF TIIE CITI'
OF CAPE CANAVERAL, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION L The City Council, sitting as the
canvassing board, hereby declares that George S. Firkins, Jr. , the
unopposed candidate for office of Mayor, has been so elected.
SEC'T'ION 2. The City Council, sitting as the
canvassing board, hereby declares that Gasper J. Salvaggio and
E. 1larrison Rhame, the unopposed candidates for the offices of
city councilmen, have been so elected.
SECTION 3. 'Iltis Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon its adoption by the City Council of the City of
Cape Canaveral, Florida.
