A RESOLUTION URGING THE BOARDOF COUN'rl'
CONE E11SSIONERS OF BREVARD COUNT%', FLORIDA
TO RESCIND APPROVAL 01' DISTRICT It RECREATION
FUNDS FOR DEVEIDINNIENT OF PHASE 101.1 JJ11%,
PARK CAMPSITE.
WHEREAS, the lloard of County Commissioners of
Brevard County, Florida, on May 20, 1971, authorized the
expenditure of District II recreation funds for the development
of Phase I of Jetty Park campsite, and
WI IEREAS, the City Council of the City of Cape Canaveral,
Florida, strongly opposes such expenditures from these
District II recreation funds for the reason that such an expenditure
will divert funds ordinarily used for other recreational purposes
of a more useful meaning to the citizens of Cape Canaveral, and
%VIiEREAS, the City Cou» eil opposes the use of public
employees and public tax fluids for an enterprise which is in
direct competition with private industry at a time when said
private enterprise in this area needs increased support.

COUNCIL OF '1118 CITY OF CAPE (CANAVERAL, FLORIDA, AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. 'The City Council of the City of Cape
Canaveral, Florida, hereby urges that the (bard of County
Commissioners of Brevard County, Florida, rescind its approval
of the expenditure of District 11 recreation funds for the development
of Phase I of Jetty Park campsites.
SECTION 2. The City Council further urges that
the Board of County Commissioners of Brevard County, Florida,
utilize private enterprises for the development of Jetty Park and

opposes in principle the expenditure of public funds for the
development of a business enterprise that will compete directly
with private businesses similarly engaged.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall become
effective immediately upon its adoption.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Cape
Canaveral, Florida, on this A day of June, 1971.
