A RESOLUTION URGING RAPID COMPLETION
OF INTERSTATE HIGHWAY 95
WHEREAS, the City of Cape Canaveral, Brevard County,
Florida, is served by Interstate Highway 95; and
WHEREAS, construction of Interstate 95 was authorized by
Congress 16 years ago as an interstate and national defense high-
way but major segments of it remain to be completed in the State
of Florida; and
WHEREAS, this vital Interstate Highway daily takes on an
increasing role in safely handling north-south traffic in Brevard
County; and
WHEREAS, current economic conditions in this area demand
all efforts to promote jobs for residents of this area; and
WHEREAS, rapid completion of this highway will greatly
stimulate the tourist and industrial economy of all of Brevard
County
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF CAPE CANAVERAL,
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA;
THAT construction of Interstate Highway 95 be completed as
rapidly as possible south of its current terminus at State Road 60
west of Vero Beach; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that Interstate 95 be rapidly linked
to the Sunshine State Parkway west of Fort Pierce, Florida.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Cape Canaveral,
Florida this 18th day of January , 1972.
