HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 1977-09RESOLUTION NO. 77 -9 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING TILE CHIEF OF POLICE OF THE CITY OF CAPE CANAVERAL, FLORIDA TO FILE AN APPLICATION IN BEHALF OF SAID CITY FOR A GRANT TO BE USED FOR AN EMERGENCY GENERATOR, TO BE MADE TO THE CITY UNDER PUBLIC LAW 90 -351 AS AMENDED, AS AUTHORIZED BY LAW ENFORCEMENT ASSISTANCE ADMINISTRATION; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Cape Canaveral, Florida, herein called the "Applicant ", after thorough consideration of the problem and available data, has determined that tile project described below is in the best interest of the general public: Acquisition of an emergency generator by the Police Department of the City of Cape Canaveral, Florida; and WHEREAS, under the terms of Public Law 90 -351 as amended, the United States of America has authorized the Law Enforcement Assistance Administration, through the Florida Bureau of Criminal justice Planning and Assistance, to make Federal grants to assist local governments in the Improvement of criminal justice; and WIIEREAS, the applicant has examined and duly considered such Act, and the applicant considers it to be in the public interest and to its benefit to file all application under said Act and to authorize other actions in connection therewith, for the acquisition of an emergency generator for the Police Department of the City of Cape Canaveral, Florida; NOW, THEREFORL', BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Cape Canaveral, Florida, as follows: SUCTION 1. That Robert Tweed, Chief of Police of the Police Depart- ment of the City of Cape Canaveral, Florida, be and he is hereby authorized to file In behalf of the applicant and to furnish information and take such other action as may be necessary to enable the applicant to qualify for a grant for the acquisition of an emergency generator as described herein. MICROFILMED 4-10-80 SECTION 2. That the official designated in the preceding paragraph is hereby designated as the authorized representative of the applicant for the purpose of furnishing to the Florida Bureau of Criminal Justice Planning and Assistance such information, data and documents pertaining to an application for a grant as may be required, and otherwise to act as the authorized representative of the application for this application. . ,. SECTION 3. That if a grant be made, the applicant or official representative designated in Section 1 hereof shall maintain such records necessary and furnish such information, data and documents as required by the Florida Bureau of Criminal Justice Planning and Assistance to support the implementation of the project. SECTION 4. That the applicant is aware that not more than five per cent.(5%) of the total required cost of the project be appropriated cash and that such funds designated as local hard cash contributions in all related project budget schedules that are to be provided by the applicant are hereby appropriated new funds for Criminal Justice use for the express purpose of matching the LEAA funds. SECTION 5. This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption. SECTION 6. This resolution was duly passed at a regular meeting of the City. Council of the City of Cape Canaveral, Brevard County, Florida, on February ___I , 1977.
