HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes 07-19-2004CITY OF CAPE CANAVERAL COMMUNITY APPEARANCE BOARD JULY 19, 2004 MINUTES A meeting of the City of Cape Canaveral Community Appearance Board was held on July 19, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. in the City Hall Annex, 111 Polk Avenue, Cape Canaveral, Florida. The meeting was called to Order by Chairperson Hayes at 7:00 p.m. The Secretary called the roll. MEMBERS PRESENT Burt Bruns Randy Camomilli Randy Wasserman MEMBERS ABSENT Karen Hayes Walter Bowman Lisa Moore Connie Trautman OTHERS PRESENT Susan Chapman Bob Hoog Kate Latorre Vice Chairperson 2nd Alternate Chairperson 1 st Alternate Acting Recording Secretary Mayor Pro Tern Assistant City Attorney All persons giving testimony were sworn in by Kate Latorre, Assistant City Attorney. NEW BUSINESS 1. Approval of Meeting Minutes: June 21 2004 Motion by Mr. Camomilli, seconded by Mr. Wasserman to approve the meeting minutes of June 21, 2004, as written. Vote on the motion carried unanimously. 2. Request No. 04 -41 - Sign - 701 Thurm Blvd - Nancy Hanson Recreation Director for the City of Cape Canaveral Applicant Ms. Hanson, Recreation Director for the City of Cape Canaveral, Applicant, testified that Manatee Sanctuary Park was a 10 acre City project; Phase II of a Federal grant was nearing completion, which includes the installation of the entrance sign. Ms. Hanson advised that there is an existing Palm Tree at the entrance and additional landscaping will be added. The Board members reviewed photos of the site where the sign will be placed. Motion by Mr. Camomilli, seconded by Mr. Wasserman to approve Request No. 04 -41, as presented. Vote on the motion carried unanimously. Community Appearance Board Meeting Minutes July 19, 2004 Page 2 3. Request No. 04 -42 - Sign - (Solana on the River) - 7128 Marbella Court - Art Kraft Sign, Applicant. Ms. Lobean, Representative for Art Kraft Sign, Applicant, testified that this was a non- illuminated single sided sign made of fabricated aluminum. The proposed sign is white with dark burgundy trim, as shown on the colored rendering. Ms. Lobean noted that landscaping would be installed and the sign would be located at the South entrance of the Solana on the River project. Brief discussion followed. Motion by Mr. Camomilli, seconded by Mr. Wasserman to approve Request No. 04 -42, as presented. Vote on the motion carried unanimously. 4. Request No. 04 -43 - Addition - 303 Fillmore Avenue - Russ & Debra Bensen Applicants_ Mrs. Benson, Applicant, testified that she and her husband have lived in the home for 18 years and wish to construct an addition onto the small house; landscaping will be added in the front but they have not decide what to plant yet. She noted that there are large Oak Trees in the back yard. The Board members reviewed elevations, photographs and color samples of the roof shingles, house color and trim. Brief discussion followed. Motion by Mr. Camomilli, seconded by Mr. Bruns to approve Request No. 04 -43 with the condition that the body of the house be of a muted earth tone that will compliment the brown shingled roof and white trim. Vote on the motion carried unanimously. 5. Request No. 04 -44 - Office Building = (AJT) - 8910 Astronaut Boulevard - Mitch Spivey, Representative for AJT, LTD Applicant. Mr. Spivey, Representative for AJT, Applicant, testified that this request was the last phase of the AJT project, a three -story building. He outlined the contents of the submittal packet. He noted that the front of the building faces southeast. The Board members reviewed elevations, photographs, and color renderings of the proposed building. Following discussion, the applicant agreed to plant two tall trees along the back of the building to help block the view of the garage doors from Astronaut Boulevard. Motion by Mr. Camomilli, seconded by Mr. Bruns to approve Request No. 04 -44 as presented. Vote on the motion carried unanimously.
