COMMUNITY APPEARANCE BOARD MEETING
MAY 22, 2000
MINUTES
A meeting of the City of Cape Canaveral Community Appearance Board was
held on May 22, 2000, at 7:00 P.M. in the City Hall Annex, 111 Polk Avenue,
Cape Canaveral, Florida. The Secretary called the roll.

Attorney Bennett swore in all persons giving testimony.
NEW BUSINESS:
Approval of Meeting Minutes: May 1, 2000.
Motion by Ms. Hayes, seconded by Ms. Neilsen to approve the meeting minutes
of May 1, 2000 as corrected. Vote on the motion carried unanimously.
2. Request No. 00 -19 — Don White - Two -Unit Townhouse - Lots 1 -3, Block
1, (Corner of N. Atlantic & Washington Avenue) - A. L. Baureis, Applicant.
Mr. Baureis testified that the building would be painted mint green with white trim,
a gray shingled roof, and white garage doors. He noted that the 2nd floor
balcony faced Washington Avenue, it would have a white aluminum railing with
decorative glass (if affordable). The Board members reviewed the submitted
landscape. notes. Brief discussion followed.
Motion by Ms. Hayes, seconded by Mr. Bowman to approve Request No. 00 -19
as presented. Vote on the motion carried unanimously.
3. Request No. 00 -20 - Ronald and Karen Hale - Single Family Residence -
Lot 24, Discovery Bay Subdivision - William M. Young, Applicant.
Mr. Young testified that the single - family residence would be located in the
Discovery Bay Subdivision, Lot 24. He advised that the house would be painted

a pale white with light tan trim, the windows would be tinted gray, the main entry
door and garage door would be white, the landscaping would consist of a
planting area of all native plants, annuals and palm trees would be planted as
shown on the submitted landscape plan. Brief discussion followed.
Motion by Mr. Bowman, seconded by Ms. Hayes to approved Request No. 00 -20
as presented. Vote on the motion carried unanimously.
4. Request No. 00 -21 - Tech -Vest, Inc. - Wall Sign - 7177 N. Atlantic Avenue
- VDC Display Systems, Applicant.
Mr. Mutchler, VDC Display Systems, testified that the sign consisted of
10 "X12 "X1" foam letters affixed to the building. The "VDC" logo would be
corporate blue and the "Display Systems" letters would be black. The Board
members reviewed a color rendering of the proposed sign. Brief discussion
followed.
Motion by Ms. Hayes, seconded by Ms. Neilsen to approve Request No. 00 -21
as presented. Vote on the motion carried unanimously.
5. Request No. 00 -22, Gregory and Roseann Bohar - Fence - 7670
Ridgewood Avenue - Gregory and Roseann Bohar, Applicants.
The Board members reviewed photographs and a submitted survey of the
property. Mr. Bohar testified that he was requesting approval for a 4 ft. high
wood shadow -box fence with a clear coat finish. He noted that the fence would
follow the slope of the ground. He advised that the neighbor to the rear of his
property had an existing 6 ft. wood fence. Following discussion, the Board
members determined that this proposed fence would be compatible with
neighboring properties.
Motion by Ms. Hayes, seconded by Ms. Neilsen to approve Request No. 00 -22
as presented. Vote on the motion carried unanimously.
6. Request No. 00 -23 - Martin and Jeannie Gaydan - Single Family
Residence - Lot 37, Coral Drive - Martin and Jeannie Gaydan, Applicants.
Mr. Gaydan testified that he was proposing to construct a 2 -story single family
residence on Lot 37 in Harbor Heights. The residence included a 2 -car garage,
screened pool, 6 ft. high shadow box fence, and a pervious turf block driveway.
He advised that shrubs and bushes would be planted along the fence line. He
noted that the residence to the rear of his property had an existing 6 ft. high wood
fence. He further testified that the house would be peach (apricot) with white trim
and shingled light gray roof. Brief discussion followed.

Motion by Mr. Bowman, seconded by Ms. Neilsen to approve Request No. 00 -23
as presented. Vote on the motion carried unanimously.
7. Request No. 00 -24 - Ronald and Susan Lang - 3rd Floor Room Addition -
620 Monroe Avenue - Ronald and Susan Lang, Applicants.
Mr. Lang testified that he was requesting approval to extend the existing 3rd floor
bedroom approximately 350 sq. ft., over an existing 3rd floor balcony. He
advised that the exterior colors would be the same as the building. The Board
members reviewed the submitted photographs of the building. Brief discussion
followed.
Motion by Ms. Hayes, seconded by Mr. Bowman to approve Request No. 00 -24
as presented. Vote on the motion carried unanimously.
There being no further business, the meeting was duly adjourned at 7:45 P.M.
